Counteract Facial Volume Loss with Our Advanced Aesthetic Treatments

facial volume loss

One of the main aspects of the aging process is that our faces gradually begin losing volume. As a young person, your face was much fuller, rounder, and voluminous. It was free from wrinkles. Getting older leads to a decrease in facial volume and the early formation of wrinkles begin to become evident. Surgical procedures like the facelift can reduce sagging skin, but cannot restore volume that was lost, which can lead to unnatural results. Fortunately, there are several treatment options available for facial volume loss.

Facial Fillers

Facial fillers are injectable products that contain some form of an active ingredient suspended within a gel. The most common active ingredient in facial fillers is hyaluronic acid. Popular brand names include Juvederm® and Restylane®.

Most fillers work by increasing facial skin volume to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles. Just as a grape loses volume and develops folds and creases when losing moisture, your face will tend to lose volume and develop wrinkles when it loses moisture and certain skin components due to the aging process. Fillers can help restore these important substances and reverse the process that led to the formation of lines and wrinkles.

Restylane®

Restylane® is a type of facial filler containing hyaluronic acid that is injected to help correct facial volume loss and diminish signs of wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid has the ability to attract many times its own weight in water molecules. Think of a water balloon that is fully inflated. Its surface is round and smooth. Restylane® helps to reduce lines and wrinkles by increasing facial fullness through an increase in skin moisture.

Juvederm®

Juvederm® is a filler that also contains hyaluronic acid and an additional ingredient: lidocaine. Lidocaine helps to ensure patient comfort during the treatment process. Juvederm® is somewhat different from other fillers in that it has a special formulation that produces a gel that is extremely smooth and silky, flowing easily under the surface of your skin to promote enhanced facial volume and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

Results

It is important to keep in mind that, while fillers offer excellent results, their effects are temporary. Your skin will continue to age normally after your treatment, and the injected product will eventually be fully absorbed by your body. At that time, you will need touch-ups to maintain your results.
